We’re so excited to announce that the winner of our recent Intergalactic Challenge is Auckland’s Holy Cross Catholic School!
28 Year 2 students from the Papatoetoe-based Holy Cross Catholic School participated in the month-long challenge which required every student to complete 30 missions in 30 days.
The Intergalactic Challenge was created to introduce LiteracyPlanet to schools that hadn’t yet tried it. It was a fun way to show both teachers and students how useful the programme is in achieving literacy learning outcomes.
We’ve found that despite the programme being a very personalised learning experience, students love competing with one another to complete the most missions, and we’re so delighted to award this prize to such a deserving group of students.
Tom Richardson, CEO LiteracyPlanet
Ann O’Grady, Holy Cross Catholic School’s Year 2 Teacher said “Our students love the gamified world of LiteracyPlanet. It keeps them engaged, appropriately challenged and rewarded for their efforts. And they really loved the challenge set for them.”
Completing over 1,800 missions so far, the Holy Cross students have already improved on 66 literacy concepts across Phonics, Comprehension, Spelling, Sight Words, and Grammar.
As winners of the Intergalactic Challenge, Holy Cross Catholic School won a 5-year subscription to LiteracyPlanet for the entire school, worth up to $40,000.
This will be an important inclusion in our teaching programme across the school. We are excited to roll this out and are also so proud of our Year 2 students who achieved this on behalf of their school.
